Luke
13:35 says, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,” a phrase or
verse that we have all come to know very well. The other day I experienced an
accident that has been imprinted in my heart forever. As I was leaving dinner
with a group of friends, I witnessed a woman get run over by a car. The lady
who ran over her was not at fault, yet the burden she will carry on her back
will remain with her forever. God somehow works in miraculous ways and at this
moment I was thinking to myself, why God? Why did this just happen? An off duty
state trooper had pulled over after witnessing the entire event, and I knew God
had put him in the right place at the right time for a reason. He knew exactly
what to do and within seconds there was an aid car and two police cars. A drunk
“EMT” came out from another restaurant and began yelling at everyone and tried
to tell everyone what to do in the situation. The off duty state trooper pulled
the “EMT” aside and told him this was not his place to tell anyone what to do.
He soon found himself in the back of a police car.
I
felt that God put this in my life to open my eyes to his underlying miracles.
Without the state trooper the situation could have gone so differently. After
recovering from the shock of what I had seen, I turned to God in prayer and
asked him to show these people his way and to guide them, comfort them, and be
with all of them through this trying time. God works in miraculous ways and
sometimes he does this through humans, and in this situation God simply used
the state trooper. My calling in this situation was not to be a paramedic or a
police officer, my calling was to be a witness and to turn to God in prayer.
Prayer: Dear God, Help me to realize how truly
blessed I am. Help me to shine your light through me and help me to open
others’ eyes to how loving you are. Amen
Daily Challenge: Spend time thinking about all the
blessings God has put in your life and how truly thankful you are for the
people and gifts God has provided you with.
