Psalm 32 Written as a Note to a Penitent Person

Melinda Coles

Dear Melinda,
How happy you must be to know your wrongdoings have been forgiven.  Whatever it was that you were so ashamed of, has been completely forgotten.
We had noticed you were not feeling well (perhaps it was your groaning).  Knowing it was a guilty heart that was making you feverish, now makes sense.
We heard you praying (at least we saw your lips moving) in worship services during The Confession.  And then, it was you that cried out “Forgive me, O Comforter, for the times I have sinned in my thoughts, my words, my deeds.”
Several of us had told you that in times of distress, the power of God’s presence would surround you.
Remember when we told you not to be a stubborn mule insisting on going your own way – all those needless heartaches!
We trusted that our steadfast love in the Lord surrounded you and now we shout for joy to see God’s mercy .
                                                Love,
                                                Your Westminster Friends

Prayer: O God, it is hard to admit our sins and our failures to do what is right.  But when we confess,“he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) Amen.

Daily Challenge:  Confess your transgressions to the Lord. (Psalm 32:5)
