Don’t you see it?

The Lord God said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Don’t you see it? God does not want us to be backward looking, going through life looking in the rear review mirror. But we so often can’t help ourselves. We remember the hurts of the past and the mistakes we made.

God needs to do something about the mistakes, the scars and the breaks in our lives. So God goes to work on us. God has a great imagination and sees the possibilities in us. God sees past the mistakes, sees past the scars, sees past the brokenness and sees the divine possibilities in us. And then, God takes away the old. God takes away the old anger, cynicism and hatred and all the other bad habits we have developed. God goes to work and starts to take away those deep scars in our lives and then fixes the broken pieces of our lives. This all takes time, more time than we want it to. But God doesn’t stop there. God starts to put on layers of grace and peace, and layers of joy and happiness, and layers of love and affection. And when God is done with us, God says, “I make all things new.” I restore that which is old, corroded and scarred into someone new. Don’t you see it?

It’s time now to look ahead and focus on what’s before us. God wants to do a new thing in our lives. He wants us to rise up to our full potential in Him. He has called us to do mighty things. He will even make a way when we feel lost, and refresh us when we’re burning in the heat.

We have got to keep on moving forward. It’s only in moving forward that we ever accomplish what God has called us too. We can’t stay where we’re at, nor can we go backwards. The only direction we can go is forward. Yes, it can be hard – but it’s the only way if we want to move on in God and grow. Don’t be afraid to keep moving on. For what was before, now has gone. God wants to accomplish so much more but we need to move forward in the Lord.

Prayer: Dear God, Help me to be forward looking to restore me into someone new. Amen.

Daily Challenge: Devote five minutes with God today, just seeing the possibilities God has in store for you.
